beginner guitar books
Can I use my guitar books for piano?

I can play guitar (grade three) and ukelele (self taught) and now I would love to be able to playing piano. im only thirteen and I do not really want to go out and spend all my money on keyboards and piano books. I bought a keyboard that has already is:) so I was just wondering, I could use my beginner guitar books and stuff just to start me off on a piano? or are they the same? my keyboard has not arrived yet, so I can not try them out. I am self-learning piano by the way (:

Theoretically, you can use your guitar book to play the treble clef lines piano music. The problem is that piano music often includes music in bass clef as well and as such, the notation is quite different (guitar notation in treble clef only) therefore play a song in its entirety would be problematic to use only guitar music. Similarly, guitar notation is a bit more drawn out than piano music (which notes due both cord and tape; piano notation looks the same across all octaves). My suggestion would be to practice treble parts through your book (assuming you know the notes of the keyboard which is easy enough to find online in the event that you do not), but ultimately investing in a beginner piano book. Piano music can look scary at first, but it is actually quite easy when you get the basics. Knowing how to read music will certainly help.

The first step in learning the guitar is to determine your skill level. Beginners and intermediates should find a resource designed for them, and leave advanced guitar lessons for later as they become more proficient. It is wise to start with something designed for your skill level, which makes guitar instruction more fun. Click Here For A Learn To Play Guitar Product Review
