I need a electric guitar song for a contest and i need recomendations for an audition for a song?

Along the same lines – I was going to say “Stairway to Heaven”. Good “acoustic” section… good “electric” section and a great solo that is actually not too difficult (and is well-documented all over the Internet w/ videos and tabs etc.) You will need to shorten it. Do the acoustic part, the bridge just before the solo… the first half of the solo.. then end it.

Another classic rocker along the same lines — “Dream On” – Aerosmith.

Tip – NEVER bore the judges. Give them a taste of this, taste of that, and most importantly remember there needs to be a beginning-middle- end. Do something unexpected and exciting… then get to the end.

No BS – I was listening to a country song today while driving (not my usual thing) .. but there was this incredible harmony between male/female singers that every time around CHANGED just a little bit. The girl kept going higher and changing up her vocal runs – more forceful, more complex, higher – it was a very effective hook. The element of surprise is huge in music if you want to hook listeners.
