What software/hardware do I need to have a music studio?

This is what I want to be able to do:

Play different guitars and record them on computer. I want to have the notes entered automatically when I play and then be able to manipulate the notes on the tab sheet (software). Take that and put it with other beats and sounds that Ive created. Now regarding the latter, I want to be able to record live sounds, e.g., train running or baby laughing, and manipulate that in all kinds of ways, even using it as a beat. Sample from various instruments (I want to create the music using, I guess, a keyboard (small). So, I take a drum set or piano and plug away creating different music. mix it all together. Make a CD. The end. If there is anything else I this world, please feel free to let me know. Also, I want this all to be portable. Mac based.

For starters you need a good program to make beats, such as Reason 4, or perhaps Fruity Loops, or Kinetic 2, to name a few.

You can use the sample player inside of these programs to record a train or a baby, or whatever, and then use it is a sound, or a loop, or create some kind of beat with it.

As far as recording guitar goes, i second Audacity, if you want a free program, or if you’re willing to pay, then go with Sonar 6, or Sonar 7. They are much more capable.

There is no way to record your guitar as musical notation or tabs, the only way to record that kind of information is with a Midi keyboard, which by the way you’ll probably need if you want to make beats and sounds and stuff.

Well there is one way, but it is very expensive, you would have to by a Midi Guitar, but most people haven’t even heard of them that’s how expensive they are.
