Can a PS2 Guitar Hero controller work with Guitar Hero PS3 games?

My friends got the PS2 controller and I wanted to get a PS3 for the downloaded songs and things.

no. PS3 is USB. Ps2 is that the other controller connects things. So you can only use controllers designed for PS3. As right now you had to rebuy package to have a second guitar. but this will change in about a month.
