how to understand guitar hero?

okay this is my situation, I want to understand the piano notes and guitar notes for example, there are some chords called augmented I mean how it is expanded and why those notes, and what does the Lydian mode and all the others think, and I want to understand the complex chords. everything I've learned, ranges of keys, but im still confused on these chords, so can anyone tell me whats a good DVD to buy or what to do so I can understand this music theory please you would be a life saver. ps. I've played in awhile and these DVDs I've bought seems to be get me nowhere. and im not interested in longer hours. I want something simple so I can understand these complexities and all those notes etc etc. DVD I bought: like rock house guitar method DVD, Guitar Grimoire DVD got me nowhere, but I want to understand that the guitar Grimoire DVD has a lot of information, I just do not understand it. and I am afraid to buy anything is not worthwhile.

There are 4 main types of chords: Major – consists of the root, a major third and perfect fifth -. Less is of root, a minor third and a perfect fifth -. Diminished consists of root, a minor third and a diminished fifth Augmented. – Consists of the root, a major third and an extended fifth than. An expanded fifth is just a semitone higher than a perfect fifth and a diminished fifth is just a semitone lower a perfect fifth. Modes is one of the things that are hard to understand until you finally get it and then they are so simple and just make sense. The seven states in large scale: Ionian – Ionian mode is commonly known as the Major scale. It notes a distance same distance as all the white keys from C to C. The whole step / half step formula WWHWWWH -. Dorian the Dorian mode has notes that are distributed in the same way as the white keys from D to D. The whole step / half step formula WHWWWHW -. Phrygian the Phrygian mode, the notes that are distributed in the same way as the white keys from E to E. The whole step / half step formula HWWWHWW -. The Lydian Lydian mode has notes that are distributed in the same way as the white keys from F to F. The whole step / half step formula WWWHWWH Mixolydian. – The Mixolydian mode have notes that are distributed in the same way as the white keys from G to G. The whole step / half step formula WWHWWHW -. Aeolian the Aeolian mode is also known as the natural minor scale. It notes that are distributed in the same way as the white keys from A to A. The whole step / half step formula WHWWHWW -. Locrian It locrian fashion have notes that are distributed on same way as the white keys from B to B. The whole step / half step formula HWWHWWW. I have a couple of Guitar Grimoire books. I would highly recommend exercise book. A large part of the exercises 'm just running through your states. Its a good way to commit them to hukommelsen.-KDecka
