I was wondering if the rock band instruments work with guitar hero 5 ps2?

and makes guitar hero 1 guitar work on it too.

They all should. Here is a chart that can help you http://www.rockband.com/compatibility. I know it does not mention GH5 but I have GH5 for PS2, and I use my Rock Band drums and a GH-1 guitar. Hope this helps.
