what would you recommend a fender bass or a bass IBANEZ?

I think im going to be a bass guitar and my friend plays electric guitar told me IBANEZ that is better than the fenders, but my second fried actually plays bass said fender is one of the best bass guitars! IM really confused and im not sure which to get so im going to get other peoples opinions!
