sounds like you are at an advanced level and are at the point where to get better you have to start taking music theory seriously. it’s not very difficult, just takes a little time and a place that explains it clearly, I have an ebook you can use to learn it on my site at
http://guitarmanual.typepad.com
that is a great place for starting to learn theory, it walks you through major, minor and pentatonic scales and the modes they create and how they work and tie in w/ chords and keys. It has also has an awesome section on chord construction so that you will know how to create any type of chord in any key through a simple formula that is easy to memorize, also a great one on chord inversions, which will give you a ton of more options for playing the same chord in different arrangements instead of just the same old F and C every time. this will expand your playing greatly, you can email me too through the site and i’ll help you with anything you need on theory, good luck ! please try it out !
