how can I record myself singing?

Basically I'm at school and I would like to record myself singing and playing guitar. I have access to a Mac who have garage band and connected to a strange box that says "TASCAM us-122l USB 2.0 audio / MIDI interface. It has two jack that fits regular microphones (those with a circular base and three components). I also have access to such a microphone jack and lead and I have them all connected at the time, and GarageBand sound recorder thingy on, but for reasons beyond me, garage band is not picking up that there is a microphone plugged in. Can anyone tell me what interface do anything, and how to the whole thing to work! I did mention that although I have access to the microphone techincally im not allowed to use it. I can get it thouh, IM, and will not destroy the. Please tell me so I can do it!

In the lower right corner of the garage band that should be something that says input. Try changing the settings on it. Also make sure that the track you are recording in is highlighted. If it does not work in the upper left corner, go to GarageBand> Settings> Audio / MIDI> Audio Input. Change the setting there. If nothing else, you can always record through the microphone.

The first step in learning the guitar is to determine your skill level. Beginners and intermediates should find a resource designed for them, and leave advanced guitar lessons for later as they become more proficient. It is wise to start with something designed for your skill level, which makes guitar instruction more fun. Click Here For A Learn To Play Guitar Product Review
