guitar midi pickup

Music program that takes the guitar input sound and can add sounds to it, such as violins or any midi PATC

h It does not have a midi pickup on guitar. I just want to plug my guitar into my computer, the computer play whatever sound I want with the guitar, including guitar or exclude guitar. thanks guys, it was all great I'll try some of these programs out

If you are guitar is USB type or you have a cool little plug thing to hook it up try Logic or Reason. They are both music mixing software, but you in Reason (and Logic, I think) you can download the instrument patterns, feeding them through a sequencer and voila, you have added violins or whatever. I like Cause best of all because it looks just like a real recording studio set up, and you can turn the unit around and manually put bits in other bits, then change the input and output, and various feeds and stuff. Reason is basically unlimited in its possibillites for combnations of mixers, effects, sequencers, samples, synthesizers and master blenders. Logic is pretty bloody good too. Otherwise go to GarageBand on the Mac, which is good for beginners and non-hardcore types.
