Bass amp to make a buzzing noise if I did not touch anything metal?
I have a Squire for Fender Jazz Bass with a Fender Rumble 15 bass amp. On the front of bass guitar are three buttons – two large and small. The small (I have no idea what it is called officially) was to give me a bit of a headache. When I turn knob up to maximum, my amp starts to a high buzzing noise. As soon as I touch anything metal on the guitar (strings, towels, etc.), the buzzing stops until I relax. The higher the knob, the higher the noise. If I dial down to the minimum noise goes away. I am sure it is still there and I just can not hear it. Naturally, larger button is set, the richer the sound is. I like the richness of the sound, but hate the buzzing. Does anyone know what specifically is causing the noise, or why it only happens when the knob is turned up. And of course, how can I fix it?
The noise is a basic problem. The buzz goes away when you touch something, because the system is partially being grounded through you. This can be a very hazardous if there is something wrong with the wires inside the amp. Its probable land problem is in your guitar or guitar cable. Make sure the amp's power cord does not have a pin cut off. If it was designed to have a three-pin plugs and one was cut off, you're in danger.
