Is there anyone else having problems with PS3 Guitar Hero controller and PS2 games?

I have been waiting since I bought the PS3 to be able to play guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 and get rid of the PS2. I even went to the midnite release party at Best Buy to get the game with a controller. But guess what … the new GH3 controller is not even initializing the Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II. Is there anyone else having this problem and if so, Red Octane is working to resolve?
