Xbox 360: Rock Band 2 Review

I could spend all day playing an adrenaline-fueled shooter over Xbox Live, and I love nothing more than to run the raid after raid in the World of Warcraft ", but when it comes to playing a game with a bunch of people, directly and personally, nothing can compare with" Rock Band. "Harmonix and MTV Games offers this little melodic wonder to the world last holiday season, and despite some unfortunate hardware failure, met with thunderous applause from the rock star wannabes everywhere. Now, just nine months later, a successor is ready to take the stage. The only question is, will "Rock Band 2" is more like a Metal God or GarageBand.

First, let's take a look at the key player. For those of you living under a rock, which is poorly equipped with gaming equipment, reading material and commercially television, "Rock Band" allows up to four players to take the reigns of musicians in an up-and-coming band with the sole aim to hit the big time. Whether you choose lead guitar, bass, drums and vocals, you must use your rhythm, coordination and talent to play with remarkable songs in music past and present. Fortunately, this perfect blend of accessibility and downright fun to return to its latest incarnation.

Now that we've got the difficult task out of the way, we can proceed to some new delights offered so prominently in the sequels. Firstly, the "Rock Band 2" throw some amazing online modes in the mix that makes allow gang members to link up around the globe. This is seen through local and global online competitions, including World Tour and Battle of the Bands, which both gives you, gamer, an opportunity to compete against individuals and whole bands to see who really is God Rock. If you worry about how you look more than how you play, the game's character creator has got a once over to allow for more fashion, tattoos and bling. Finally, if you are the owner of the original "Rock Band" and you fear the constant switching of discs, fear not. "Rock Band 2" is not only backwards compatible for downloaded content, it also has a disk Export Feature to export the tracks from the original into your new game.

Sure, MTV Games' franchise has a solid and addictive gameplay, a hefty pile of online features, and enough songs to offer something for everyone. While each of these very positive comments should have you salivating and waving cash at a game store clerk, what really makes "Rock Band 2" shine is the fact that everyone from teens to grandparents can download a tool to strike a position in the room and jam together in perfect harmony gaming.

Summary

Rating out of 10

Gameplay: Whether you play alone or with a group that offers "Rock Band 2" accessible fun for all ages and enough songs to satisfy every taste. (9)

Graphics: While you will spend most of the game looking at tiny dots on streaming frets, the audience will enjoy custom created characters and cool light show that really encapsulates the concert feel. (8.5)

Sound: This is what the game is about, and it makes it perfectly. (9.5)

Entertainment Value: again and again galore and lots of online features make "Rock Band 2" a solid purchase if you need to buy instruments. (8.5)

Originality: Succession is far from the original and the music genre is chock full of candidates. But while originality may be lacking, the concept has delivered better than no games currently in the genre. (6.0)

Total Score 8.5
